Premier Daniel Andrews says the resignation of former Health Minister Jenny Mikakos is “the appropriate course of action”, but insists he did not ask her to step down.
Ms Mikakos announced her resignation in the wake of Mr Andrews’ testimony to the hotel quarantine inquiry, in which he said she was accountable for the program.
Mr. Andrews said it was clear Ms. Mikakos was not aware of her full responsibilities within the hotel quarantine program.

In a statement posted to social media, Ms Mikakos said she had written to Victoria’s Governor to resign as minister, and she would also be resigning from the Parliament.
